BookDevour

This is a blog that centers around my obsessions with books, authors, and the characters they create! I do have a strong leaning towards I/R, paranormal, and George R.R. Martin. Please leave/post any comments that you may have and Subscribe if you have a similar interest in Book!

Working on.......

I discovered this series of  books from my Local libraries digital downloads page. I saw the cover and that it was YA, but I enjoy a good read that doesn't include sex every now and again. I fell in love Chanti (Shaun-tay) instantly!
Chubby, intelligent book reading Chanti that is just a little bit of a chicken; hey, I resemble those descriptions!

About Me

Hi, I'm M. from Ohio. I'm a graduate of The Ohio State University, married to a wonderful and tolerant husband that I call C-MaCdaddy, and totally and completely in love a Bichon Frise, Lola; seriously I met the love of my life 6.mo before I fell in love with hubby, who also fell in love with her. Besides the spoiled child I call Lola, I love clothes, coffee, shoes, chocolate, my hair, teen wolf, true blood, game of thrones (book and show), Spartacus, and books. Seriously, I read anything in fiction with an eye on IR romance and fantasy; I read so much that my hubby tells me that I devour books (good thing the library lends me books on my Kindle). I started this blog so that I could share reviews and geek out on books that I love. Thanks for visiting, leave a comment, and spread the word to visit my site.

Love- M.

Review Policy/disclaimers

Review Policy
BookDevour accepts review requests for a wide variety of genres that feature prominent roles by African -American pro/antagonists. I will read most fiction; Romance, YA, Paranormal and Fantasy. I do not read non-fiction or children’s fiction.

I
accept review copies from large publishers, Independent publishers, and from authors requesting a review for their independent work as long as I can download it on my Ipad (I upload my reviews to several sites, not just amazon). I prefer to read on my Ipad. I am also more than willing to consider all requests, but if they’re not in the genres that I mentioned above, I will most likely decline.

I will do my best to review books in a timely manner, but in some cases I will be delayed. Also, please be aware I will not and cannot review every book received, and I can’t accept every review request

This site is full of my opinion. As a person I’m very honest, so my reviews reflect that when I am critiquing a book. My reviews are an observation of a work not of the author, so please don’t take anything personally.

I accept review copies in paperback, but my preference is e-ARC copies.

Sites where you will find my reviews:
GoodReads
Amazon.com
Digital Downloads

Review Guide
The BookDevour review guide is based on a formula that is so complex and intense that your brain wouldExplode if I revealed it to you, so I will keep it to myself. But here are some definitions to help understand my grading scale

Red Wine: Five stars. An excellent book to sit back and enjoy.

White wine: Four and half stars. Great read, not excellent, but still great.

DNF : Did not finish.
H/H: Hero/heroine
I/R: Interracial
AA: African American
BW: Black Woman
WM: White man
I’m just saying: A peek into the crazy that whips around in my brain
FAQ’s
What do you do other than reviews?
I’m happy to host author Q&As, giveaways, etc. to go along with my review please email me if you are interested. However, this site is venue for me to share my opinions about what I read and I won’t feature books that I have not read.

What if I don’t like the book?
My acceptance of a review copy does not guarantee positive reviews. If I did not enjoy a book I will do my best to describe the reasons why. A negative review is not a reflection on the talent or creativity of the author; it just means that I didn’t like that particular work. Please take my review as constructive and send me your next release, I will happily review the book on its own merit.

What’s with the pictures of celebrities as characters?
I’m visual; when I read I see a movie in my head, so I like to include images to my readers to show them what I see. These images are ‘muses’ and I in no way mean disrespect to the author or the model. If you are offended, please email me and I will take the photo down.

Book boyfriend:
I’m visual; these images serve as ‘muses’ and I in no way mean disrespect to the author or the model. If you want credit for your image email me, I’ll add your information. If you as the model or author are offended, email me and I will take the photo down.
