This is what real romance looks like!!

***I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I honestly loved this book! I thought that this romance was "fresh " and unexpected. let me set the plot for you; Patrick is a regular guy who writes his favorite actress after her very public breakup with an action star. he's not looking for anything, just offering her support. Lauren is just a woman in need of a man's attention. They correspond and the fun begins.

The good:
Romance. OMG, I wish Patrick could teach a class about how to be romantic without being obnoxious. I found his style ( and there fore JJ Murray's) to be so refreshing. I'm tired of billionaire bad boy, alpha male, construction worker, cowboys. it's nice to read about a man being an alpha without me having to be told he is an alpha because his bank account or title. My favorite scene's involved St. Louis in the snow. I just found it so quaint and sweet. The scenes didn't need more.

Patrick. Yes, please!

Setting. I liked the descriptions for each city, I could picture each place and really felt like the author took the time to research or visit each site. I wanted a cup of hot cocoa from the Deli and I could see the hotel overlooking the arches.

Papa/Mama. Both were fun no nonsense characters to read.

The bad:
The paparazzi. I felt their interaction got old quick
Having whole conversations during the "adult scenes". No, thanks!

Overall:
This is a well written fun read that I would recommend to any and everyone. The adult scenes are hot, if a bit chatty, and the romance is real and alive. So much so you want the characters to stay together.

Seduced in Blue......

I recently received an ARC of Melissa Blue's "Her insatiable Scot." I have to be honest, this is the first book that I have finished by this author, I am a huge fan of the "Den of sin" series (Shamelessly Taken is free on Amazon!) so I have "Forbidden Rendezvous," but I have not read this title yet.

My first impressions were quite confused, I hadn't read the first book, "Under his Kilt," so I had no idea what any of the characters were talking about. The reason for Tristan and Keri being at a hotel and posing as their family members, but as the story went on I began to understand more and more until I
was quite obsessed with this book. Namely, Tristan.

Tristan. I love a strong alpha male with a generous helping of vulnerability and Tristan is just that. Smart, sexy, skilled in the bedroom and hurting, Keri is the only woman in the world able to offer him everything that he needs; beauty, intelligence, and patience. Aw sweet! Not exactly, try hot. Steamy, explosive, toes curling while reading, HAWT! And the way he said, "Aye" instead of yes? Girl! In my head it was deep and dark like a young Sean Connery.

Favorite line:
I have more than one favorite,  if I were to list them here I would end up copying pages 65, 69, and 95.
e.g. Keri, "He probably tasted like the best decision she ever made....." Yum-O!

I'm jus Sayin:
I asked my hubby, the C-Mac (as in the guy of Scottish decent) to say "Aye" for me and he just looked at me like I was stupid. ME! How rude.

Read this book or check out its author, Melissa Blue.

Please subscribe! Thanks, Monica B.

Don't miss Red Sun.......

This is a "new adult" romance. Normally I would avoid such fare, but when I downloaded the sample and began reading I was immediately engrossed. This book is just so good that I bought it before I finished the sample. Ms. St. Pierre weaves such a good coming of age romance that I threw out my preconceived notions and buckled my safety belt for the ride.

The good:

The story revolves around Solei, a young aa woman who is still suffering the effects of a family tragedy, I love /loathe this heroine at first, she was self-centered and immature, but aren't we all at her age? I actually found myself loving more and loathing less the more I read. Ms. St. Pierre has a special talent that is missing in many new adult romances; allowing her heroine to grow without her seeming to make decisions beyond her years.
My vision of Solei, actress Keke Palmer

One of the reasons that I don't enjoy young adult or new adult is that the characters are to insightful,  wise, or have the ability (in my opinion) to make decisions that are beyond their years because the people who write them are older and write from an aged point of view. Or, the character doesn't actually grow, but the characters around them just accept their annoying behavior because the heroine is just so "special."

But in R.S. you read Solei making poor decisions, we know why she makes them because she tells us and then we watch through her eyes as she deals with the consequences of her immaturity. By the end of the novel you can tell a difference in the character from where she began, its quite beautiful.

The Men:

Elan
Élan- The older brother. Every fantasy I've ever had involves a guy like this, the "hot boy" that shows this one girl his softer side. He's wildly romantic, sexy, and bold. If only I wasn't married, and almost forty, and he was REAL. Bow-chica-wow-wow.

But I digress.

Jolon- the strong silent type with long dark hair and muscular body. Dang this woman can
Jolon
write, because, Uhm yeah, I imagined myself brushing his long raven locks, the act being so erotic. Damn

I wanted her to end up with both brothers, kinky, yes, but a girl can dream! In the end Solei had to choose and break my heart and the heart of the other guy. Read it to find out who she chose, you won't be disappointed.

Fav character:

Ruthanne- I smiled whenever she showed up in a scene.

Fav line- I have two:

"The rain seemed to be the catalyst- the spark that lit the flame between us. Something about it made him irresistible to me and it seemed to have the same affect on him" pg. 323

"Every time he touched me some pale new I lost my breath- apparently my feet were no exception to the rule. Any uncharted area on my body seemed to short circuit when his skin came in contact with mine." pg. 189

The bad:

I want more of Jolon and Elan; Solei can come to, but no offense Kaya, Elan is mine!

Overall:

I smiled a lot as I read this book. A lot.

Interview with a Dragon.......

The Dragon (G.O.N.Y. - Double Dragon) by Violette Dubrinsky

MB: Hello Ramsey Stone and thank you for agreeing to this interview. I know your busy with all of your enterprise's and the next book releasing soon, thank you. And, may I just say, I'm sorry for
your loss. I cried through Lilly's ordeal and can't imagine your loss. I hope you don't mind if we keep things light since your time is short and my blog readers have specific questions?

KJRS: Thank you for your condolences. (jaw clenches) My niece was very special to me.

MB: I'll start with the most important question first, the question I most want to know, what are you wearing? Spare no detail in your description, please.

KJRS: I am wearing a dark blue Italian-made suit with a cream V-necked undershirt. I believe the designer is Fioravanti.

MB: I'm getting a lovely mental picture, thank you. Tell me, Boxes or briefs?

KJRS:
Boxers. I find briefs, even boxer-briefs, confining.

MB: I bet! How does such a busy man keep in shape?

KJRS:
I work out most mornings after I wake at 6am. I do cardio and weights. A certain lady also helps me stay in shape. What we do together is nothing short of a workout.

MB: Hmmmmm. I will have to use my imagination for that one. Tell me about Red cream, it played such a pivotal role in your seduction of Jezebel and for us readers the scene was EPIC. Are surprised by the reaction you've had?

KJRS:
Yes, I am. Red cream isn’t specifically made to be used the way I used it on Jezebel but it does the job. (smirks) Now, I think I’m going to have my developers patent the recipe and have it on the market for those who’d like a try.

MB: Will you be manufacturing and producing red cream for public consumption? No matter the cost, hubby and I could take another mortgage out on our house, as long as three cases of it shipped to me in Ohio.

KJRS:
I’ve been thinking of it. (smiles) And I assure you it would be affordable and shipped in very discreet, perfumed packages.

Nice. Now lets get down to do the serious before Ms. Dubrinsky finds out I've stolen time with her muse.

MB: This new novel, The Dragon, why the title?

KJRS:
I think the title speaks for itself. The Dragon is who most of the story is about. This story had to be told separate from The Masseuse because the entire mood is different. After losing someone so precious to me, I had to change and become what I was born to be.

MB: What can your fans expect?

KJRS:
Suspense, mystery, action, adventure, hot sex, romance, love…There is too much in this story to explain right now but it has a good dose of the things that matter.

MB: And Jezebel, with everything that has happened, your family, the FBI, is there any hope for the two of you?

KJRS:
Jezebel is mine. She may not like to admit it, but we both know that she is, just like I am hers.

MB: Tell me, will there be more of Ramsey Stone in the future?

KJRS: Something tell me you haven't seen the last of me yet. There are still things that I need to deal with it, persons to deal with. It's possible that I will return.....someday.

Well well, I'm drooling. how about you?

This book packed a punch!

Wolf's Fire (A Novella of The Narcoleptic Vampire Series Vol. 3.2) by Dicey Grenor

Sorry I couldn't resist that one. I'm a huge fan of the narcoleptic vampire series Ms. Grenor is so good at giving real passion in her characters that you just can't put her books down. Punch is a amazing hero, his character arc felt like a roller coaster ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait for the next adventure in the series.

The Good: The cover models body (yummy!), the characters, the writing, the plot.

The bad:
Not much.

Overall: Read the darn book!

Buy it here: Amazon, goodreads, B&N

I had to crack open a bottle of red for this book.........

50 shades of Jungle fever: the Ghetto Girl Erotica Trilogy by LV Lewis

I laughed out loud after the first page. Was engrossed after the first chapter and was writing love letters to the author by the third. Truthfully, I wasn’t even half way done before I was asking about when the
next book comes out, I was completely obsessed. And I had hesitated at reading this book, I was not a fan of “50 shades by E L James.” You can read my review and leave comments, but the book was a DNF, so I was not really sure about this book. However, after a few facebook ads and actually reading the synopsis and finding out that this is a parody I discovered that while the names are similar, this story unique and genuine.

The good:

There are so many really great things about this book, so I will stick to my favorites:

The fairies- their antics made me laugh and cry. I was completely on their side the whole time.

Matt Barr as Tristan
Tristan. Yes please! He is the ultimate alpha male and I LOVE HIM.

Heather Hemmons my Keisha
Keisha was me and not me all at once, this character is so "real" that you can't help but to fall in love with her level-headed dissent into the kinky world of BDSM. She is strong and feminine without any of those annoying habits that so many heroines in the romance genre have.

The witty banter between the characters
Matt Barr and Heather Hemmons as Tristan and Keisha

Favorite line:
I feel a soft caress trace my torso. "Penny for your thoughts," Tristan says. "C'mon, they're way more expensive than that." pg 219

"You were doing well for a beginner if we discount the odd moments when you were whacking me like you were trying to chop vegetables on a cutting board." "I'm a girl. We always resort to flailing during fighting, didn't you know this?"
The bad:

That this book had to end.

Overall:
I am in love with Ms. Lewis; head over heels, bent over in awkward positions love.

Please leave a comment!

Read this book and get it from Amazon, B&N, or goodreads

A bit of a disappointment....

Possessed by Thayer King

This book is set in an alternate universe where mutant’s exist. Not like xmen, but several humans exhibit special abilities like telekinesis and clairvoyance. Keva Lane is a channel at the Institute of Parapsychology, a safe place for “enhanced human’s” to go and seek help or refuge. When she
responds to an emergency call to help Sebastian Brooks, a psychic going supernova, things go horribly awry. Normal treatment methods don’t work, and Sebastian rudely suggests that she could cure him with sex. With lives at risk, Keva doesn’t have any choice but to give in to the sexy psychic. Little did she know that she would be setting off a chain of events that would change her life forever.

The good

Mrs. King always comes up with unique storylines and jaw dropping alpha men. She does not disappoint with this book, Bastien is HOT! Bastien is Sebastien’s alter ego, the Mr. Hyde of the two; demanding and plundering his way into Keva’s heart. Sebastien is the Dr. Jekyll, the level headed gentleman that know’s he’s no good for the kind hearted Keva. They both want her, both are out of control, and both can’t seem to keep it together long enough to stay or stay away.
Girl, Mrs. King does the alpha male right. Is he arrogant, yes! What else would you expect from a no hold bars male that tells you what he wants and knows how to fulfill his promises?

The bad

I really liked this book while I was reading until I made it to the end, then I felt underwhelmed. Like, cyberstalking a dress, ordering, then receiving and ripping open the package to find out that it doesn’t fit or is made from lame and makes you look like a giant disco ball; yes, I speak from experience. Here I was expecting a big showdown between Bastien and Sebastien; it was foreshadowed and the man could control the weather, so I thought it could be apocolyptic. And then there was the big bad institute doing wrong by the mutant’s, our heroes were not involved in their comeuppance. In fact, there was barely any conflict at all for the couple. It went from edge of your seat, where will he show up next to boring vanilla romance novel fair.

Overall:
I really like Ms. King, but this book was a bit of a disappointment.

Jada is a better woman than me

I am Yours (Heartbeat #3)- Faith Sullivan

I received this book as an advertisement in my email and decided to give it a try. I have not and probably will not go back and read the other two books, since I know how this ends, but I digress….
This is the love triangle of Katie, Jada, and Adam.

Adam is obsessed with a girl that died in his arms. Katie looks just like the dead girl, but she is alive and well with no memory of Adam. Jada is Adam’s friend trying to support the man who she has achingly fallen in love with.
Let me just say, Adam is a jerk. I really don’t like him and didn’t think that he deserved either of these heroine’s. Katie is innocent and sweet, but she has a backbone and mind of her own. Jada is strength, forgiveness, and love. These women are at odds, both in love with the same man, but time and time again they put aside their differences for the well-being of Adam. And what does he do? Tries to have his way with one while feigning concern for the other, Boo!
Deborah Ann Woll as Katie

Megan Good as Jada
Yet, I really liked this story. I kept reading and reading, never knowing who Adam was more in love with or who he would ultimately end up with, but I was wrapped up in both heroines and wanted the best for both. I rooted for Katie as she got her freedom from her overbearing father, I cheered as Jada finally faced the truth of her relationship with Adam, and I yelled at Brian (Adam’s brother) from time to time in between.
I was so worked up with this story that I read it in one day and had to write this review, it was that good!

The Good:
The ending chapter made me smile and hot under the collar all at the same time. The ladies; I’m not choosing between them, they are both solid characters.
Stephen Amell of Arrow as Adam
The bad:
Adam’s treatment of Jada at one point crosses a line with me; he put his hands on her and that is a NO-NO. Now, he does not hit her, but he physically forcefully removes her from his apartment, uhm no. NEVER put your hands on me, EVER! Unless, of course, you don’t mind walking with a limp for the rest of your life.

The other thing that bothered me was the pseudo-friendship between Jada and Katie felt a bit contrived at times; I work with women, am a woman, and am related to women, there would have been more name calling and backstabbing in reality, but I appreciate that the author created two mature female characters.

I’m jus sayin:
Adam would have to do a dig himself out of a very deep grave if I were Jada. I’m talking a grave almost deep enough to hit China, there were just too many things that he said to her that would have been the “nails in the coffin” of our relationship. I actually rolled my neck talking to this book and being angry for her.

Brian is a jerk and the character that ends up with him deserves better.

Overall:
I hate love triangles. So, you know this book is good if I read it in one day.

Thanks for reading this review, please subscribe! And buy the book @ Amazon, B&N, or check it out at goodreads

One of the most erotic scene's I have ever read.....

Wild horses by Asha King

Popular blogger Danyiah Jackson is known for finding the humor in anything--until some of her fan mail turns threatening and a stalker makes it clear he's been watching her. She grudgingly accepts the advice of a threat assessment expert and disappears from the online world, taking temporary refuge at a family friend's quarter horse ranch in the country.

Head horse wrangler Adam Cooper isn't thrilled about the smart-mouthed young woman suddenly living and working at the ranch--even if she's drop-dead gorgeous. But their verbal sparring sets his body ablaze and gets his heart racing, and he's drawn to her despite his misgivings.

However as Danyiah and Adam fight their attraction, her stalker draws near, putting not only their fledgling love, but their lives on the line.

The good:
Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dannai

Everything. The relationship between Dannai and Adam; the build-up of their attraction and her fish out of water really worked for me. I imagined that a blogger will to try anything would have the right amount of pep for stubborn rugged cowboy like Adam!

Fav Scene:

In Dani's bedroom under the ceiling fan. The setup is so simple,
random cowboy from the internet
yet maybe one of the most erotic scene's I have ever read.

The bad:

Honestly, not much.  Seriously, I have nothing negative to say about this book.

I'm jus sayin:

I already downloaded the next book in the series and I'm uncorking a bottle so I can sip while I read. It was that good of a book.

Fast Friday 5 with Violette Dubrinsky

Violette Dubrinsky

What I'm reading right now
A romantic at heart, Violette Dubrinsky enjoys creating intricate situations and placing entertaining characters into them.  She is currently a full time graduate student and part-time writer. She enjoys creating stories with strong heroines and the leading heroes who "tame" them...and by tame, she means, learns to accept their stubborn, unchangeable ways. Violette is currently working on the sequel to The Masseuse, sequel(s) to Taken By Moonlight, sequel(s) to Warrior, and a host of standalone stories.

BD: What kind of atmosphere do you write in?

My ideal of working in bed (from Pinterest)
VD: I am such a loner. I think many writers to some extent which is what allows us to get into our heads and make things up. To write, I have to be in a space where I can access my bathroom, my kitchen, the TV, etc. so that's basically my bedroom. I love just sitting at my desk , on my laptop (like I am now) hacking away at the keyboard until my eyes burn, my head starts hurting and I start writing gibberish. That's when I know it's time to sleep.

BD: Details are divine, how do you keep track of them?

VD: I reread the story so many times to keep updated on the details. Because I don't get to do continuous writes as my Muse (be absorbed in thought)works on too many things at once, I'm always taking time to reread the story, see if something is in line or out of line with the character or the situation. If you constantly reread the story as you're working on it, you start to notice things...like the fact that you didn't describe what the heroine was wearing, whether that was even important.

BD: Which one of your books would you like to become a movie?

VD: Its a toss-up between Taken By Moonlight. I think TBM and The Masseuse, so since TBM was published first, I'll go with Taken By Moonlight. I think TBM has enough to make a pretty decent movie; witches, werewolves, vampires, a sinister evil villain, mystery/suspense and romance. PLUS, I think TBM would have an awesome action sequence if those fight scenes go the way I pictured in my head.

BD: Who is the book boyfriend of your life (Your charcter or someone else's)

Daniel Henney as Ramsey
VD: Right now, my book boyfriend is Ramsey Stone from The Masseuse. He's been commandeering all of my time and refusing to let me focus on my ex-boyfriends, Conall Athelwulf and Leon Arnaud. So, yep Ramsey's the one...for now. I honestly don't mind though, not when I'm picturing his character as the handsome Daniel Henney.

BD: Hardest character to write? Easiest?

VD: The hardest character I've ever written... well, that a tough question. To some extent, they're a difficult to write because you to have to keep track of their characteristics and it's easy to lose sight of that if you have a lot of characters in one story and if the story is novel sized. I'd probably have to say of my published
stories, Ramsey Stone (again) because his character is incredibly complex. The man you meet in The Masseuse starts out with certain characteristics and by the end of the story, readers realize that he's something else. In the sequel, which I'm writing now (you remember that the story that takes up all of my time lately making him my book boyfriend) he changes yet again to deal with different circumstances. Ramsey is incredibly layered but despite having these different traits, there has to be a core element that is distinctly Ramsey and that is what makes him such a fun challenge to write.

Devoured and obsessed with Violette Dubrinsky!

I am so very VERY excited to host one of my favorite authors, Ms. Violette Dubrinsky. For those of you who don't know her, Violette Dubrinsky is the author of the Dark God, Warrior, Crescent Moon, and Moonlight Sagas.

How many ways do I love this paranormal romance writer? Let me begin with the heroes that she creates, Victor, Varian, and Conall made me fall in love with Ms. Dubrinsky's writing; they are all protective, yet sensitive companions to the dynamic heroines that she writes and I fall in love with. I guess you will never understand the depth of my devotion to her writing unless I tell you one simple truth; if she writes it, I buy it, no questions asked; not even price. Her books always amaze and entertain me, while evoking deep emotions within me as I read and learn of her characters world and their journey through them. I cry, laugh, and get mad at the characters and then do it all over again with the next book. Or with the same book since I tend to re-read her books over and over.

Warrior- This was like a slow rolling rock at the top of a snow covered mountain, it built up as it went along until by the end it was the mother of all interracial fantasies, in my opinion. And, what made it so good was not the "fantasy," but the characters; the heroine Jaiyson was strong, intelligent, and regal as the hot tempered princess that bowed to no man. Vulcan her match is hard and unmovable, except when it comes to Jaison. Their story is divine, if you haven't read this then PLEASE buy this book you WILL enjoy it; I have read it maybe three times. read my original review here!

Heny Cavill as Varian/Vulvan
Fav character: Varian. I'm drooling.

Taken by Moonlight- This is the book that made me a SUPERfan. Not that I do anything more than her other fans, but I am super and a fan hence SUPERfan. Click here to read this book and here to check out my original review.

Under a Crescent Moon- So this is the book that started it all for me. I have read this book at least five times, particularly the end; it makes my heart warm with out loud laughter. Then their is Victor. Dayum he's sexy, I never thought that I would say a that about a zombie. But Dayum! And this story is so good, it has a few twists and a couple of turns that had me at the edge of my seat, literally. I was like, "No, Don't talk to me I'm reading!" Yes I was at work and never said it out loud, but gave them the stink eye and thought it in my head really loud.  Click the link to read this book and click here to read my review.

Fav Character: Uh, Victor.

Dear madame,

I love to read, obviously, I have a blog about the books I read. I also like to write emails to the author whenever I have fallen in love with their book. So, I thought it would be fun to share one of those letters with you instead of doing a traditional book review.

Ms. Ursula Sinclair/ Lavern Thompson,
I am writing you this email to tell you that I need more of this. More of these well written characters; Ivy and Maze. From the very first paragraph I was entranced by your creations, their was something so tangible about Maze's need to know this beautiful stranger. The tradgedy both find themselves pulling back and finding their own way in life. This is where we get to know Ivy, who is such an amazingly written heroine; strong, intelligent, open, and talented. So often I read heroines that as written are vapid with bad attitudes and too many concerns about small minded issues that an actual strong woman would be able to rise above. Her perseverance and drive really make me love her. Their are lots of strong-willed women with a hard edge and than their is Ivy, the type of young woman we wish our daughters to be; strong-willed with finesse and the work ethic, grace, and talent to make her dreams come true.
Maze! OMW He is so sexy, so sensitive, so well rounded. His will reminds me of an alpha male, but he is better because he leaves the demanding and ordering at the door. He is the good man we all dream of. Not a knight in shining armer, but a man that respects and appreciates you enough not to steamroll and intimidate when his words will work. Is her perfect? No. Does he have issues? Yes, and you create, convey, and address them well.
To be honest with you my favorite character in the whole book is Dante. Dayum! I want some of that. Such a great supporting character; he has a purpose, presence, and background story that I understood and really got into. I was a little bit rooting for (team) Dante as a potential love interest for my girl Ivy. He is strong, rich, beautiful, gets and supports her art, cooks and cleans. Men should be taking notes on his moves!
And the action scenes? Fighting and dancing were perfectly balanced with the characters developing story lines and the love growing between our hero and heroine. There was no one 'bad guy' but more like bad men and a skank, who I scowled and rolled my eyes at and then cheered when they were humiliated with a loss or in one female characters case, got kicked to the curb for skankiness.
Misty Copeland the pirma African-American ballerina

So, I did find a few errors, but we are all human and the story is just SO GOOD that I didn’t even feel like writing them down.
Honestly, I am salivating for the next installment of this book; I cannot wait to hear more from these characters and you!

Favorite line: "I was no longer the boy she'd once known I was a man now. And she no longer that young ballerina just beginning to fly. She was shooting among the damn stars now."~ Maze
