Captivated

Captured (Wolf in Exile Part I): Shapeshifter Paranormal Romance

This book grabs you from the moment you start reading. Its like a really good roller coaster; hard and fast! I would recommend this to ANYONE looking for a good adventurous book that is very interesting and fun.

The good:
Great characters that are easy to identify with and believe.
Great scene setting. It was the perfect amount of information for each chapter. Like it was a movie in my head

The bad:
The book came to an end

Overall:
Heck ya I'm going to read the next installment, so should you!

It Lingers

Omega: An Urban Fantasy Novel

So this is my first book by S.M. Reine and I had no idea that this is a storyline that is shared with a previous series of S.M. Reine's; more back story would have been helpful, because the beginning was lacking and I had to play catch up in the book. Fortunately I am good at putting things together and the author does do a good job of providing enough details to build a good view of this new world after an apocalyptic event.

The good:
Deirdre. She is the perfect "anti-girl" she is not a nice person, not really, but she has to do whatever it takes to survive. I love that she is dark and gritty, hard and soft. I hate reading the same characters over and over, Reine creates someone unique in a sea of the same blah women.
Gage. I loved that he is not the typical "hero", but a good companion for Diedre
Everton Stark. So good to be a bad guy! I love his ruthlessness. He is a real bad gy, not some supped up good guy making poor decisions. He is bad, but does not care cause he is justified. Kind of like Magneto (I just watched Xmen last night), you hate to actually love him.

The bad:
A few errors
cliffhanger ending

Overall: This is a series that I want more of! Yes, the ending had me like No!!! I'm taking away stars, then I kept thinking about it and that is when I knew this is a good book, it lingered!

Author vignette: Pamela Lyn/Lyn Brittan

I recently found the catalogue of Pamela Lyn and discovered that she also writes under the name Lyn Brittan. So, I did what I do best, devoured all of her interracial romance reads!

The Last Etruscan Lyn Brittan

This is one of those stories that I found and it was just so unique that I had to read it. The story itself is
5, but the execution is a 1.5 for me.

One of the reasons that I thought that this was a great story is that the term "Rom Bara" pings around in my head all the time, the fact that the author made that happen is really cool.

Fav character: Gregario and sean. I hope that they each get their own books.

Shade: There were some really weak plot points (I can't reveal them without giving too much of the book away) and the editing in this book was HORRIBLE! To list the mistakes would be too daunting for this review, so here are just some highlights:

The author used though instead of through. And, when though is finally correct, through is used instead. The mistakes really detracted from the stories

Juans journey (Lightening Catchers) by Pamela Lyn

This is by far my favorite book of the five that I read from this author. This book is so funny, unexpected, unique with just a little bit of quirk, and a little bit perfect for me!

Juan, is the perfect anti-hero; a guy with his own problems that gets suckered by a big butt and a smile. Our heroine is the perfect contrast to our hero. A soul singer with a few problems of her own.

Their adventure together is divine.

Fav Line:

She stared him down, top to bottom. he didn't try to hide his smile.
"You've seen all of this. more, even."
"You're being conceited."
"I'm being undressed with your eyes."
"Twenty four hours ago, you were knocking on heavens door."
" Twenty four hours later, you're looking like you you want me to take you there"

Shade: small errors are a factor in this book.

Overall: This is a good read that you'll enjoy

The Witch and the Genie (The Djin Series) by Lyn Brittan

I saw this book on Amazon and couldn't resist making a purchase because the plot seemed so unique, A middle eastern man and an African- American woman; a witch and a djin. Why not?

I found this book to be everything that I was hoping for and a little more, good and steamy is how I would describe this book.

The chosen (A Cape Elizabth novel) by Pamela Lyn

I bought this book because their was a pretty brown girl on the cover of this book. I never read the previous books, but thought that the story sounded interesting and authors always give enough background to catch new readers up, so I purchased.

I should have read the other books. I was so confused by what was happening in this book. It felt like I was in the middle of an epic, but not at the beginning or the end. I mean was this about angst ridden high school kids or college aged? How is the heroes name, Skoll, pronounced? What does anyone in this book look like?

Fav: The parents and Pamela Lyn's ballsy writing. There is an epic (Hey, I've never read it in any other shifter book and I have read thousands) plot twist toward the end of the book. Kudos madame, you did blow my mind.

Shade: Why do I have to keep reading Sloan Morgan, the whole name, of the prince, Sloan Morgan over and over. Is there more than one Sloan Morgan? Did the author enjoy the name Sloan Morgan? It does sound cool, Sloan Morgan. Yes, it was that annoying to read the same name over and over again.

I love this authors writing, despite her very human mistakes, please give her books a go!

Wolf's Strength by Ambrielle kirk

Wolf's Strength by Ambrielle kirk

This book has a lot to offer; Naomi and Blake are great characters, their origin story is really unique in the landscape of paranormal romance, they’re mates from rival packs. I also enjoyed the fact that Ms. Kirk’s writing really explores the dual nature of shifters; we get narrative from the point of view of a raging werewolf, I never read that POV before. I also like the conflict of the storyline; familiar characters pop up for a stroryline update, but its never stale or boring, (If you missed a few books you’ll be fine reading this one) but the new enemy is very BAD, with a new twist on the genre. I rooted against them for the entire book.

Fav Character: Tristen Arnouu

Fave Line: “Blakes eyes glazed and he began seeing everything in vivid red, but things were clearer nonetheless. His body shuddered as he fought the emergence of his angry wolf. There was no subduing his animal any longer. The wolf was his other half. They completed each other and the both hungered…

Shade: I wish there was more description of the characters and of the setting. There were some slight mechanical issues as well.

I’m jus sayin: This is a good addition to a great series.

Wolf and Soul (The Alaska Princesses Trilogy, Book 3)

Theodora Taylor is one of my 1-clicks. In case you don't know, by one-click I mean that I don't read the synopsis, check the page to price ratio, or sample before I buy. I simply purchase with one click. This is major trust on my part, I am frugal and snobbish when it comes to books, but 2T earned my devotion several books ago.

With that being said, I woke up in the wee hours of Friday morning and checked my Youtube and facebook- don't judge me, it was 5:20ish and I refuse to get out of bed until I absolutely have to- The very first thing that I saw was a status update from 2T announcing that Wolf and Soul was available on Amazon. From her FB straight to my ipad I clicked; it was downloaded before I jumped into the shower.

I was finished with the book before my eyes drifted closed at my evenings end. Yes, that's right, I read this book in one day. I fought off sleep depravation and an annoyingly snoring husband because I just had to know how the book ended. The characters and story really resonated with me, so much so, that I ended up waking up early on Sunday and re-reading the book a second time.

I have to say, for me, this is the best 2T book that I've read since her Russian Billionaire, in fact this book cracks my top five favorite books by this author.

Singer Esperanza Spalding as Tu
One of the reasons that I really enjoyed this book was that the characters are more than just shifters, more than just interracial, more than just black letters on a white page. Dare I say they felt real to me? Well, as much as a Bi-racial-Alaskan-wolf-shifter-Princess can be. What I'm commending is the world building; werewolf royalty, meth dealers, dowry's, and deejay's? Oh my! But it all went together so well. The characters were tragically vulnerable, yet strong and protective at the same time. Beautiful. Wonderful, and a gem in my library.

Fav characters:

Tu. Of course I love the she-ro of the story, she is the first Alpha female that I believe 2T has ever
written. What I liked about her is that yes she beautiful with a great body and a wealthy family, but she is also strong, intelligent, yet "ruined." I cheered Tu, I jeered her, and I was really happy that she got her happy ending.

Grady. His "Dudley do-right" persona so endearing, which is not always the case since I tend to like them like I like my coffee, dark and brooding. But, in this case his courage, protectiveness, and vulerability really made me fall for him. Well, that and his large muscular body and giant appendage. I also related to him because of how disrespectful people were towards him because of his handicap.

Fav scene:

When Tu sees Grady and pronounces him, "mine" I fell in love with this book.

I'm jus sayin:

One of the biggest complaints that I had with the last 2T book that I read was that it was feeling a little "wash, rinse, repeat," however, this book blew that idea up like it was a giant killer shark (Get it? Remember? You know, Jaws! Really? They blew up the shark in one and three).

With that being said, I have to throw a little shade, reading the ASL grew a tad tiring to me; like reading a dialect. I know that it was intentional, and it wasn't too awful, I still had to say something.

Say What:

I Actually got on itunes and looked up Colid Fairgood's "Alabama Girls.." That's when I realized that he is character from one of her other series! Ha!

Savaged......

Celeste Anwar's
Savage instinct-

Ms. Anwar'a stories are always full of alpha males and genuine feeling females, good ideas and original plot lines. Most of her collection consists of novellas and this was the first full length novel that I saw by her, so I was anxious to to download the copy she sent to me!
One of the things to drew me to this story was Aiden, an alpha of a mountain wolf pack wondering the woods alone at night. He is protective of his alone time and enjoying his freedom. I can relate to that, so I enjoyed this side of the hero. Suddenly, he is attacked by rival leader, Lee Riker, who wants to usurp Aiden’s power.....

Nydia’s is our heroine, a tough girl that is total mush on the inside! She is driving after a fight with her boyfriend, upset and not paying attention in the middle of the night when she hits something with her car; she discovers is  a naked man being attacked by wolves. When he insists on coming home with her instead of to the hospital, she knows she’s in for nothing but trouble.

Why oh why didn’t this ever happen to me when I was single? Driving alone on a country road I meet a super-hot werewolf who I take home and ravage. Yes girl, I would!

For our heroine it was a rollercoaster of emotion that I found somewhat appealing. Nydia is smart and self-assured, with a bit of an attitude problem, but so do I , so I could easily forgive her. I also like her love for her cat and the fact that she stood on her values throughout the novel.

I also liked Aiden, he was smart, conniving and arrogant, just like every other alpha that I’ve ever read and I loved him for it.

Ms. Anwar also really know how to write a big bad meanie, with a side of hateful, and manipulative thrown in for good measure. Which made rooting against him all the more fun.

There were a few issues I had with this novel; th big problem, the emotional connection between Nydia and Aiden fell flat for me. There was too much bickering about nonsense and not enough actually getting to know each other, then wham! Sex. I actually asked myself, how are these people going to make this relationship work? What do they have in common? Why would they even bother trying, because they are so different? My other issues were minor in comparison; I found some grammatical mistakes and there were some continuity issues that I found regarding Aiden's origin.

The good:
Nydia and Aiden as individual characters were really engaging to me as a reader.

The bad:
The relationship lacked chemistry and connection in my opinion. And, the bad guy was dispatched too quickly for my taste.

Overall:
This is a decent read worth your perusal if you like alpha males with killer bodies and sweet females with an actual backbone!
